Students’ Council
West Africa Theological Seminary is the foremost non-denominational theological institution that combines academic execellence and Christian Spiritual formation. As C. S. Lewis once said “put first things first and we get second things thrown in; put second things first and we lose both first and second thing”. As a result, in the main, WATS exists to help train men and women for holy living, to carry the gospel to the unreached and to catalyze national spiritual awakening in Nigeria, as well as in other African countries and beyond. All admitted students are expected to assimilate this spiritual heritage and consider it the rallying poihnt and motivation for all their activities.
The Students’ Council as its presently constituted is a group of students that are saddled with the responsibilities of managing a wide range of activities. Within their capacity as representative of the Student Body, the Council may fulfill a range of responsibilities such as?
- Encourage students to promote the vision of the Seminary
- Promote mutual co-existence and Christian solidarity amongst students
- Coordinate, support, supervise and give reports of all activities of students in collaboration with group formation or areas of the students body.
- Represent the general interest of all student and facilitate effective communication between students and the management of the Seminary and,
- Organize student – driven community development programs.
Generally speaking the purpose of the Student Council is to be the Voice of the Student Body, and to foster leadership development. Just as the saying goes, ‘The taste of the pod is in the eating’. We have boldness to say that West Africa Theological Seminary is the best place to be; God’s place of residence on the earth today. We invite all and sundry to experience transformation like no other place.
God bless you all
